Event Details

When you have eleven kids and there is a bill to pay, it is "time to ship another steer." In this special family history talk, Bill Mueller will share memories of growing up on a Wisconsin family farm based on the book he wrote for his grandchildren, Time To Ship Another Steer. Bill's stories will touch your heart and make you laugh. Before he is finished, many of you will be thinking of ways you can leave a rich legacy for your children and grandkids. Bill will also share simple ideas on how to save your family's history. Books will be available for optional purchase after the lecture & there will be light refreshments.

This author talk is cosponsored with the Frankfort Area Historical Society.

About the Author

Bill Mueller is the much-celebrated author of Come Drive with Me!, a humorous and tender account of his years teaching driver education in a tri-county area of eastern Iowa. Bill's second driving book is in the works, but his newest endeavor is a peek into what farm living was like many years ago and the blessing it was growing up in a large family. Bill really enjoys writing about special people who have enriched his life. Bill's writing expanded into his being named Clinton County Hawk-Eye field editor for Our Iowa magazine. He wrote a feature article about his mother, Marcella, and her garden and roadside produce for Our Wisconsin magazine. Bill was a recipient of the Project Business Teacher of the Year award from Junior Achievement of the Quad Cities and inducted into the Hall of Fame. He taught eighth-grade government and history for 34 years, coached wrestling for many years, and is now in his 15th year of teaching driver education. Time to Ship Another Steer is his second book.
