Extra Features During the Fair
Nature Journaling with Carrie Carlson Art
Nature journaling is the mindful practice of connecting with nature using all your senses, making and recording observations, and being curious. Take a 15 minute break from the Fair, & join artist and educator, Carrie Carlson in the Library's Lab. She'll teach you how to practice using words, pictures, and numbers to document the natural world. Carrie will discuss tools, materials and resources, and provide observation prompts so you can practice basic nature drawing skills. Beginners welcome! All supplies provided.
Illinois Natural History Survey Traveling Science Center
The Illinois Natural History Survey Traveling Science Center is a 320-square-foot mobile classroom featuring informative, engaging exhibits on biodiversity and natural resources that visits schools and communities across Illinois. Visitors learn about the types of habitats and species diversity of their region and ways to protect against threats to that diversity.
Friends of the Frankfort Library Book Drive in the Library Garage
What better way to support a circular economy than by sharing books?
Friends are accepting book, cd, dvd, and puzzle donations at the Library's garage entrance during our Earth Fair. Multiple bags and boxes are welcome. Donations of kids books, especially early readers, would be wonderful.
Please note: magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, and VHS tapes will not be accepted.
Youth Services Eco-Craft
Young nature lovers have the opportunity to create an upcycled nature craft at the Fair, or the option to 'take and make' at home. This craft will especially appeal to those who admire our feathered friends!
