Join us for a special talk about the history of space-based observatories from the 1960s leading up to the James Webb Space Telescope presented by NASA Solar System Ambassador, Dr. Voula Saridakis. Dr. Saridakis will also speak about the latest images captured by the JWST, the most powerful space telescope to date. Her talk will conclude with thoughts on the future of space telescopes.

About the Presenter
Voula Saridakis grew up in Florida where frequent road trips to Kennedy Space Center inspired her to pursue a career related to space. She holds a B.A degree in History at Cornell University, and a M.S. and Ph.D. from the Department of Science, Technology, and Society at Virginia Polytechnic and State University. With her academic background in the history of astronomy and excitement for spaceflight, she has given numerous lectures and has been interviewed by local newspapers, radio and TV news outlets. Dr. Saridakis is currently a curator at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
