NASA Solar System Ambassador Joel Knapper will look back on the long and tumultuous journey of the most powerful telescope ever built, the James Webb Space Telescope. Joel will give an overview of its construction, launch, and commissioning as well as some of the discoveries the telescope has made since its launch on Christmas Day 2021. The hidden universe awaits!

About the Presenter

A dedicated and active NASA Solar System Ambassador, James “Joel” Knapper has been hooked on NASA and space exploration since grade school. Joel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Joel is an officer of his local amateur astronomy group, the Kankakee Area Stargazers, where he presents monthly updates on NASA programs. He also hosts many other NASA events in the Chicago area.
