Program Description

Event Details

Sew a fidget quilt (aka “fidget sensory mat”) for your loved one or donate it to Suncrest Hospice. Fidget quilts offer sensory activities for individuals dealing with memory loss, dementia, autism, Asperger’s, Alzheimer’s, ADHD, anxiety, and more. The quilts can help individuals relieve stress and anxiety while practicing their motor skills. Heather McGovern, an experienced quiltmaker, will guide the session. All materials and handouts will be provided.

About the presenter

Heather McGovern has dedicated her life to the subjects of nutrition, cooking, and organic farming. She has explored numerous healing art modalities as well as assisted others on their spiritual and end-of-life journeys. Heather is a current Hospice Volunteer at Suncrest Hospice (Westmont) where she donates numerous fidget quilts of her own exquisite design for the patients. Years ago, Heather's mother had Alzheimer's Disease; fidget quilts would have been a treasure for her. Heather’s hobbies include fiber arts and traveling.
