A woman's body undergoes drastic changes during pregnancy. Meghan Hannig, PT, DPT, ATC, will be discussing exercise throughout the different stages of pregnancy as well as during the first few months of the post-partum period. This presentation will break down some of the changes that occur in each trimester (1-4) and how to modify exercises as appropriate. Benefits of exercise during pregnancy can help lower weight gain, reduce high birth weight, reduce risk of gestational diabetes, improve energy levels, help with back pain, and improve with cardiovascular health.
Meghan is a physical therapist at Riverside Medical Center in Frankfort treating patients with orthopedic and pelvic floor conditions. She has been practicing for almost 6 years, having graduated from Lewis University with a Bachelor's in Athletic training and Governors State University with a doctorate in Physical Therapy.
