Composting: Simple Backyard Techniques

Fall is the best time of year to start composting. You’ll learn everything you wanted to know about composting with Marta Keane of Will County Green. She will explain easy ways to begin a compost or improve one, including information on the many benefits of composting. This presentation will include a demonstration on a DIY method for making your own backyard compost bin along with sources of where to purchase different types of bins.

About the Presenter 

Marta Keane is the Will County Recycling Program Specialist, managing the Will County Green website and a variety of collection programs. She has been with the County for over 18 years, and involved with recycling for over 35 years. She is the past president of the Illinois Recycling Association and Foundation, Chairs the Illinois Product Stewardship Council and is a Vice President of the National Recycling Coalition. She is also on the Illinois Statewide Recycling Needs Assessment Advisory Council and Illinois Electronics Recycling Task Force. She has been doing backyard composting since 1992.
