Help us celebrate Fall and the Halloween season by decorating the library with pumpkins! We invite Frankfort Public Library District cardholders of all ages to participate in the fun. This is an opportunity to be creative, express yourself, beautify the library, and share some community spirit.
Crazy, scary, spooky, hilarious - - the only limit is your imagination, but it needs to be appropriate to be viewed by all ages (nothing overly gory, violent, or obscene).
Program Guidelines:
- We cannot accept carved pumpkins. Only real or artificial pumpkins that are painted and/or decorated will be accepted.
- Pumpkin drop off: Tuesday, October 21 - Thursday, October 23 at the Adult Services desk. We will give you a display tag and place your pumpkin in a designated display area.
- Each person or family registering a pumpkin will receive a raffle ticket for a special prize.
- The pumpkins will remain on display in the Library through Halloween on Friday, October 31.
- Pumpkin pick up: Saturday, November 1 - Tuesday, November 4. The library will dispose of or compost any remaining pumpkins after November 4.
Please note:
- Frankfort Public Library District reserves the right to refuse any decorated pumpkin we feel doesn’t fit the spirit of the program.
- The library also reserves the right to remove any pumpkin that is beginning to decompose while in the library. In that case, we will notify the pumpkin’s contributor for pick up or disposal.
- We encourage all participants to compost their pumpkins if possible after the program:
- To compost your pumpkin, note that acrylic or washable paints are easier to remove.
- Vegetable oil can help remove paints.
- Please peel and dispose of any skins that have any remaining paint, glue, marker or other residue before composting.
- Compost your pumpkins in your own backyard compost or local green waste bin.
