Event Details
As we turn our attention to the sky in anticipation of the upcoming eclipse in April 2024, we also join with our ancient ancestors in appreciating and wanting to understand the heavens. Lecturer Jerome Julian will take us on a terrestrial tour of the many stories, tales, myths, and legends about the sky, sun, moon, and stars from civilizations and cultures around the world, such as the ancient Greeks, the Maori, and Native Americans. Hear of the origins of the “dog days of summer,” the link between the moon and the Easter Bunny, and other examples of fascinating star lore that bring to life the most famous sights in the skies above us.
