Are you concerned about the health of our local rivers and streams? Winter Chloride Watchers invites you to be part of a new program dedicated to protecting our waterways. Local rivers and streams are becoming increasingly salty primarily due to winter road salt. Chlorides—a main component of road salt—are a growing threat to water quality, vegetation, and infrastructure.
This 90-minute training session will prepare you to be a Winter Chloride Watcher volunteer. As a volunteer Winter Chloride Watcher, you’ll learn the basics of chloride monitoring and take part in water testing at a local river or stream. Your collected data will help The Conservation Foundation sponsored watch group to understand the impact of chlorides on aquatic life and how Salt Smart practices can make a difference.
