Join us to discuss The Vortex: A True Story of History’s Deadliest Storm, An Unspeakable War, and Liberation by Scott Carney.

In November 1970, the Great Bhola Cyclone struck East Pakistan, killing an estimated 500,000 people. In a region already beset by ethnic and political turmoil, the devastating storm set off a chain of events that would lead to genocide, civil war, and the rebirth of East Pakistan as the independent nation of Bangladesh.

Copies of the book will be available at the Circulation Desk one month before the meeting date. eBook and eAudiobook copies are available through Hoopla with your FPLD library card.
