Join us to discuss The Whalebone Theatre by Joanna Quinn.
In 1928, the body of a whale washes ashore on the coast of England, where it is claimed by three children who reside in the neighboring estate. Its bones will remain as the children grow, eventually being fashioned into a stage for an outdoor theater. It will be a place for the children to play, to escape, and to make sense of the behavior of the adults and the changing world around them. When war arrives and pulls the children, now young adults, in different and dangerous directions, the theater will remain a refuge, a touchstone, and a solace.
