Join us to discuss Better the Blood by Michael Bennett.

In Auckland, New Zealand, Hannah Westerman faces daily challenges as a busy detective, a single mother, and a member of the indigenous Maori people. An anonymous text message draws her into the hunt for a killer whose crimes are connected to a 160 year old atrocity committed by British soldiers against a Maori chief. As she investigates, Hannah must wrestle with her Maori identity and roots, as well as her own past actions as a young police officer sent to break up a protest over indigenous land rights.
